The problem with reading more is not that you don’t have the time; it’s just that you don’t prioritize it. You can read while waiting for your coffee. You can read while waiting in line. You can read while waiting for your food. You can read while waiting for someone. You can read during break time. You can read before you go to sleep. You can read while waiting for your file to download.
There’s no excuse for not having time. If you really prioritize it, you won’t excuse yourself with no time.

Meditation can help you improve your focus and strengthen your urge to surf. If you are wondering what urge surfing is, you can see my article. The more you focus on your task, the more you will get out of your reading. You may see yourself as only capable of reading 10 pages. It’s okay; you can increase it in the future by meditating. When you are focused, you can increase your reading to 20 pages. It depends on yourself.

3. Bring your books anywhere.
If you want to read more, you need to bring it anywhere. If you want to pick up your phone while waiting for someone, start grabbing your books now and reading. Remember that habits really play a big part in how to read more. If you bring your book anywhere, you will have the habit of knowing that you bring your book. Then, you will tend to pick up your books more than your smartphone.
If you are using an e-book, open your e-book rather than another social media app. If you find it hard, try blocking your notifications and other social media in order to increase your focus.
Conclusion
So, this article won’t be long because you don’t need a lot of tips. You just need to start moving. Stop planning too much on when you read, how you read, etc. Start reading now. Start choosing your books more than you choose your phone. It’s okay if you just read for 2 pages before checking your phone. You build the habit of reading first, then opening your phone.
So, All you need is:
- Prioritize (Books > Social Media)
- Focus
- Urge surfing (because you may want to close your book after reading for 2 or more pages)
- Repeat
If other people can do it, you can do it too!
Remember that it takes time. There is no need to rush. Love yourself by loving the process!
