How To Overcome Anxiety

Sometimes, I feel a lot of anxiety. Especially when there’s near a deadline. I started to worry and didn’t know what to do.

I actually have plans for what I need to do, but when it comes to taking action, I start to blank and don’t know how to start or even what to do.

After that, I just keep scrolling on social media and do nothing. I keep on scrolling and trying to find a “validation” or some post that could help me calm my anxiety.

The more I scroll, the more anxious I become. I became much more confused about what I had to do.

I don’t even know how to start.

Anxious

Being anxious really ruins my day. Especially when you have planned your day to relax but find yourself anxious that day. Now, you will feel much more burned out and depressed.

The problem is that not only do we feel depressed, but we are actually just stuck in a rut. We don’t know how to move forward and take action on our goals. So, we end up wasting our energy on social media or thinking negatively.

Scrolling on social media takes energy. So, don’t think that you will feel much rested after playing your phone. It’s not.

You just make it worse.

So, we need to know how to act when we are anxious. We need to know how to deal with anxiety. Not only is that anxiety pretty complex, because in this article we might not cover it all, but I want to give you a tool that might help you overcome it.

One important thing that you can do to overcome anxiety is:

Start taking action, even with the smallest action.

Now, you might be confused because I said that we don’t know what to do when we are anxious. We might just become much lazier and avoid facing things because of how anxious we are. So, we need to find the smallest action that we can take.

Start breaking!

For example, you want to finish your assignment for a project.

You can start breaking it into small pieces and then break it again into much smaller pieces.

If I have a project on making an essay, I would start making a title this night. Tomorrow, I will start with my outlines. Then, I will start researching again or maybe start writing some words for my essays.

You will gain more confidence in taking action, and as a result, you will feel less anxious. You have much more confidence to continue your work. You will start to feel like, “I can do this”. Remember that motivation comes from action.

Identify what happened.

So, you now know what to do. Start taking action for the little things you can find in your anxiety. You need to identify why you feel anxious. You cannot just avoid it and let it be there.

Anxiety will wait for you in the corner when you are avoiding it, and he will not leave until you face it.

Anxiety might become much bigger if you keep avoiding it. While you are not that anxious, you can start taking action and destroying it right away. The more you take action, the more you become less anxious.

Remember that action beats anxiety? It will become much calmer if you know that everything is going to be alright. Even so, letting it be isn’t going to help you destroy it. Taking action within your control might help you become much calmer.

Conclusion

We all feel anxious sometimes, and we don’t know how to handle it. We might start avoiding it, making the anxiety much bigger than before. Taking action as small as you can will help you destroy that anxiety and make you much calmer in the future. Remember that action beats anxiety.

“Anxiety is like a rocking chair. It gives you something to do but gets you nowhere.”
