The Importance Of Rewarding Yourself

Have you ever felt tired of doing your work?

I felt burned out while working in my organization. I keep on planning and start doing the tasks until they are nearly finished in order to decrease my anxiety. Even so, I still felt depressed and didn’t know what to do.

I kept on working and working, but still, I don’t find any enjoyment in that. After working on every task, I don’t feel like I want to pursue better goals. I’m more into “I want to finish this and then take a day off”.

My mind is full of that. “I might not like this job” or “I don’t like this work; I want to move out,” or sometimes I plan to get out of my organization.

Then I found out that I was burned out. I was motivated at first, but then I started to become demotivated more and more. I think more negatively about other people and small tasks.

The small tasks that I used to feel motivated to work on before have now become hard tasks. I feel more likely to procrastinate and develop bad habits.

The problem

If you keep avoiding understanding yourself, you might find yourself dragged into depression. You are more likely to deliver low-value work than you would be before you were still motivated.

You will become much more negative, not only towards other people but also towards yourself.

Your ego, your negativity, and your bad habits will start controlling you. You eventually feel less controlled and then fall into depression. We don’t want that in our job, right?

Other choices

You might say that this might be a sign for you to move to another job or resign from your job. Well, it could be right, but it’s a big choice. It’s much harder to find a new job than to stay in your job sometimes. So, you need to do some research before you decide to resign from your job.

Your body might start giving you signs like sickness and being less motivated after every wake-up. Which is great because it could be part of your research for your decision-making.

If you find yourself in a toxic environment or even if you don’t find enjoyment in your work, you might want to find a better job.

Before that, I want to help you research your choices.

Researching

The importance of researching is that you will become much clearer about whether you need to resign or keep staying and find a better way to deal with the problem.

You need to plan a lot before making a choice because it helps you understand and prevents you from becoming disappointed after you make the choice.

Start asking yourself: Do you really want to stay or not? If you still have doubts about whether you want to stay or not, maybe you need to give yourself some healing time.

What is healing?

Is it really important to do that?

“I heal or reward myself when I finish my tasks”.

Well, it might help you, but don’t underestimate healing. What I mean by healing is rewarding yourself after the work you have done.

Don’t underestimate rewarding yourself. You might set a high standard for yourself, but as a result, you feel more stressed. It’s not a high standard because it’s more likely perfection.

We don’t want to focus on perfection. We want to focus on progress. Setting standards for yourself is important, but don’t forget to give yourself a break or reward.

How to set a reward

To set a reward, you can do it before you start working. You might be working at 9 a.m. Then you finished at 5 p.m. Normal 9–5 work.

Then you can start asking yourself, “What do you want to do as a reward for yourself after your effort today?”

This is important; you need to treat yourself like a friend. The most important friends in your life are God and yourself. You are working towards your goals. Only you can know what you really want, and God will support you along the way.

God will help you pursue those goals and strengthen you when you feel down.

If you read this and relate to it, maybe this is how God helps you understand yourself.

Don’t treat yourself like your enemy. Treat yourself like family, like your own friend.

You can easily help your friend or your family and give them presents, but when you have worked pretty hard, you don’t give yourself any reward except more work.

You might want the doughnut that you saw yesterday; you can give yourself that after working hard this week or maybe today.

The benefit

The more you reward yourself AFTER WORK–don’t give yourself instant gratification. It doesn’t work like that — you will become much happier because you start to understand yourself better.

So, rewarding yourself can help you increase your productivity, happiness, and focus. Your body will start working fully because you have less stress and are much happier to continue your work.

You sometimes need to be understood. So, treat yourself like your best friend because you are what you will bring every day.

Conclusion

A lot of people sometimes avoid the word burnout and start working like hell. The importance of rewarding yourself or just taking a break is really crucial. We are not robots that keep working 24 hours a day; we are still human beings that still need a break and love from ourselves.

So, by rewarding ourselves, we can start increasing our productivity and motivation at work. We might get a better output after healing or rewarding ourselves.

So, start rewarding yourself because you deserve it!
